Curriculum Portfolio

Kristina here: I joined the staff of the nonprofit Educurious as its first dedicated editor in January 2020. I worked there (remotely) for over three years and contributed to over 30 curriculum units during that time. I also created the first Educurious house style guide; edited dozens of grant applications, annual reports, newsletters/press releases, webpages, and more; revised articles too advanced for their intended grade levels to yield more appropriate Lexile scores; and researched & wrote original articles for two units myself.

Below is a list of units I worked on. Most cover images are also clickable links for more details; the units captioned as open educational resources (OER) open as full PDFs. In each unit’s caption, I have first listed my role in the project, then the year I completed the work, and finally, the year that the version I worked on was last published or made available for curriculum adoption.

Since my departure, Educurious has merged with the National Center on Education and the Economy (NCEE). As a result, many of the above courses have been revised and, in some cases, renamed. Here are two example lessons from the updated versions of the Fossil Detectives and Airdrop units (published as “sample units” to NCEE’s Project-Based Learning Curriculum page). While I did not contribute to these newer versions, the changes appear largely visual rather than substantive, with content and standards alignment remaining intact.

All images, links, PDFs, and data on this page are shared with written permission from Educurious/NCEE and to be used for portfolio purposes only. OER units are licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0.
